MediaWiki includes powerful wiki tools that allow you to create content using 'wikitext,' a simple plain text format that eliminates the need to write cumbersome HTML code. You can also link pages together easily, create new pages on the fly, add images and other media, comment on pages and track page revisions.

MediaWiki was initially designed for the Wikipedia project but nowadays is deployed on numerous web sites around the world.
